My father just had heart surgery and the nurses and drs told us to watch out for depression in the next couple of weeks. He was in good spirits before and after, but now he’s starting to get depressed.

Is it biological, psychological, or both? I can understand how stressful major surgery is, but I would think people would be happy that it was over and they pulled through alright. Is it caused by hormones or something?

I have bad anxiety and Im scared with every ache or pain that I have in my legs that its a blood clot. Does anyone know the chances of this happening. Im 22 years old and in pretty good health.

Ok the first one is…I had the emergency surgery friday, and I threw up 3 times after the surgery in the hospital. I came home saturday, but now today i’ve been really nauseas all day and i don’t know why? And I feel kinda weak, lightheaded, and dizzy too. Is that normal? This is the 1st time I’ve been nauseas since I left the hospital. I’m takin a anti-biotic (amox), and a pain killer (hydrocodone). Could it be from the medicine or what? If it is from the medicine I don’t know how I just started feeling nauseas! I’ve been takin it for 3 days already (and I always take them with food!)! And another thing, I read that it takes 6 mths to a year to fully heal. Me and my husband were trying to have a child. How long should we wait to start tryin again?
I had the Laparoscopic appendectomy. Sorry I didn’t mention that.
and my appendix wasn’t ruptured.

I had my appendix removed last Friday, after going to the E.R with bad right side abdominal pain. I was discharged Saturday morning with a follow up appointment for march 20th with the surgeon. Since I’ve been home I’ve been in pain, called the surgeon but the receptionist won’t get me in earlier and told me its probably post op pain. Its only on the right side of my abdomen, but higher than where they cut me for the appendix. It hurts near my bottom ribs, but kinda radiates to my right shoulder blade. Like a constant sharp pain. Hurts when I breath deeply also.. Any advice or anyone else have this?

My appendix ruptured almost a year ago and the year before that I had an intestinal blockage (the doctor thinks they are un-related!). Though I’m told everything is fine I am still quite swollen and I’ve gained about 30 pounds. Very little “fat to pinch” on abdomen - just a hard, swollen feeling. Colonoscopy 1 month post-op was normal. I recently started experiencing tenderness on the left side. My doctor suspected diverticulitis but blood tests revealed normal white count (no infection), elevated BUN ratio, and slight anemia. I’m awaiting a CT scan (new insurance pending) to rule out ovarian cysts. Bottom line is that my body is just not the same as I’ve lost my almost-flat tummy and what was a sculptured waistline. And of course - I’m concerned with the recent discomfort. I recently read about “twisted colon”. I’m grasping for any possible explanation… anyone experience similar scenario?

What causes retina detachment? Squinting too much? Rubbing my eyes too much? Contact lens?

When you get surgery to fix it, how long does the recovery take?
